--- title: This is the website of Dutch composer and producer Patrick Schouten. description: This website is all about the music projects by composer and producer Patrick Schouten from the Netherlands. url: https://www.patrickschouten.com/ --- # # Patrick Schouten ## COMPOSER & PRODUCER I come from a family where my grandfather, father, uncles and nephews were making music. Raised with music all around me I started playing my fathers "[Melodica Alto](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hohner_alto_melodica.jpg "more information about this music instrument by Hohner")" and shortly my first keyboard, the famous "[Casio SK1](http://www.vintagesynth.com/casio/sk1.php "more information about this sampling keyboard by Casio")". During my time working as a volunteer at the [Astronomical Observatory in Rijswijk](http://www.sterrenwachtrijswijk.nl/ "more information about the highest located observatory in The Netherlands") I played in the synthesizer band "[Floating Spheres](https://www.patrickschouten.com/collaborations/mysterious-landscape)".  I started writing more and more music of my own with the keyboards I bought over the years. All connected to my [Atari ST 1024](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_ST "More information about Atari St computer") computer running [Cubase](http://tamw.atari-users.net/cubase.htm) by Steinberg. Loads of tapes I recorded with songs and instrumental landscapes. Later I converted some of these tapes into the albums "[Collection](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/albums/album-collection "more information about the CD \'collection\' by Patrick Schouten")" and "[Dreams](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/albums/album-dreams "more information about the CD \'dreams\' by Patrick Schouten")". My music is mostly influenced by the late [Vangelis](http://elsew.com/). But most music out there gets my attention. [Cubase](http://www.steinberg.net/en/home.html "more information about the studio soft- and hardware by Steinberg Media") is still at the heart of my studio. ### KSK Productions, The Netz & JK Collective Together with my friends Jan and Marco Knetsch we bundled our musical differences and creativity to start the music company KSK Productions. With KSK Productions we created a lot of music for very different projects; musical songs and music, children songs, holiday songs, music for documentary and video or music for games. It is really great to hear your music in a performance or a broadcasting of a documentary or soap. In 2020, we currently stopped working with clients.  Around 2010 I also started as sound engineer at the band [The Netz](https://thenetz.nl/), and later I upgraded to Keyboard player. Jan and Marco are also members of this band. Playing life is not my cup of tea, so I quit the band, but I still had a lot of fun with them. In 2023 Jan, Marco and I started writing songs for Jan's album Ring Road and together with Arie van de Graaf and Dirk van Biezen we formed the JK Collective. The album [Ring Road](https://www.patrickschouten.com/albums/ring-road) came together in 18 months. ![Patrick Schouten, the man, the face, the cap](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/photos/3M6A7609%20Patrick%20Schouten%20-%20MMC%20-%2006-04-2022%20square%20300.jpg) --- My music is digitally distributed by: [![Independent Digital logo](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/logos/brands/ID_trans_white.png)](https://independentdigital.com/) COMPOSER & PRODUCER # Albums and singles [![](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/singles/Galery%20Sunset%20Party%20300.jpg)](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&catid=20) [![Single: sea of resignation](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/singles/Galery_Sea_of_resignation_300.png)](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=39&catid=20) [![Single: forest of solitude](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/singles/Single_Forest_of_Solitude_300.png)](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=37&catid=20) [![Single: the search for plate Absynth](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/singles/Galery_Planet_Absynth_300.png)](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=38&catid=20) [![Single: chillin tangerine](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/singles/Single_Chillin_Tangerine_300.png)](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=32&catid=20) [![Album: songs by black and white](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/albums/Gallery_SongsByBlackAndWhite.png)](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=30&catid=8) [![Album: the drake equation](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/albums/Gallery_TheDrakeEquation.png)](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=28&catid=8) [![Single: hypnagogic hallucinations](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/singles/Galery_Hypnagogic_Hallucinations_300.png)](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=35&catid=20) [![Single: distant memories](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/singles/Galery_Distant_Memories_300.png)](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=34&catid=20) [![Album: spirit of the ocean](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/albums/Gallery_SpiritOfTheOcean.png)](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=22&catid=8) [![Album: soul of the mountain](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/images/albums/Gallery_SoulOfTheMountain.png)](https://www.PatrickSchouten.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=23&catid=8) [![Album: cosmos 1 -
